MISSD: Minimally Invasive Seizure Stopping Device

Mission

Collaborate with UC Davis team of biomedical engineers to create branding and visual aids for their capstone project device, MISSD, which will be presented to industry professionals and community members at the UCD Undergraduate Research Conference.

Overview

The Minimally Invasive Seizure Stopping Device is (MISSD) is a device that is minimally invasive, reliable, safe, and easy to use by a non-medically trained caregiver — family, roommates, sitters, etc. — to stop an active seizure lasting more than 3 minutes.

Solution

I developed a logo, visual identity system, and visual aids (brochure and illustrated insert) for the device. The team expressed that they wanted to convey a friendly, inviting feel through the branding so it would help alleviate the stress that comes with seizures. For the visual identity, I opted for rounded forms (throughout the logo and typeface choices, gradient circles to allude to the device’s suspension holes, and uplifting off-primary colors. I also designed the information brochure, and illustrated the instructional kit insert using this visual identity system.
